Each year the PENINSULA BELGIAN AMERICAN CLUB sponsors a number of events including
monthly meetings (
April thru October), Christmas party, attendance at local
events such as Belgian Days in Brussels and International Bay Fest in Green Bay,
plus more. We plan our programs based on input from our membership and seek to obtain
speakers for our meetings on a variety of topics.
Since 1972, we have made biennial exchange visits with our
"sister" club in Belgium, the Wallonie-Wisconsin Society. Newly-discovered cousins
have been found; new friends have been made. Being able to converse in the old Walloon
dialect has been advantageous for our members. It is not a requisite for membership,
however, as many converse in French and in English. Our members have visited the
birthplaces of their Belgian ancestors---those who left their homeland and settled
in northeast Wisconsin in the 1850s, 60s, and 70s. Our members stay with host families
in Belgium, and then reciprocate when members of the Wallonie Wisconsin Society
come to Wisconsin. It's an awesome experience!
Meetings of the Peninsula
Belgian-American Club are held the third
Thursday of each month,
April through
October, at 7:30 PM, at the old schoolhouse, adjacent to St. Mary of the
Snows Church, Namur, Door County, Wisconsin. Check the Calendar of Events for meeting changes.
If you are interested in being a presenter at any of our meetings, or have a suggestion for
an event, please
